Bright Future Parenting is a mobile app designed to provide comprehensive support to parents and caregivers. The app connects users with professional coaches, offers a rich library of resources, and facilitates a social network for parents to share experiences and advice.
Initially, the project aimed to create a platform for connecting parents with licensed coaches and providing access to educational content. However, during the research phase, we uncovered a deeper need: parents' desire for connection with others in similar circumstances. Our challenge evolved to address both professional guidance and peer-to-peer support within a single, user-friendly mobile application.
For Bright Future Parenting, we dove headfirst into the Design Thinking pool. Why? Because it's not just about making things pretty - it's about solving real-world parenting puzzles with pixel-perfect precision.
Here's the scoop:
We kicked off by channeling our inner parents (cue the sleepless nights and coffee addictions). This empathy-fest helped us frame the problem through a human-centric lens, leading to some seriously unexpected 'aha!' moments.
Throughout the design journey, we kept our users closer than a toddler with separation anxiety. This deep dive into the parental psyche gave us the secret sauce to whip up solutions that hit the spot for both our sleep-deprived users and our coffee-fueled stakeholders.
By keeping our finger on the pulse of real parenting struggles, we didn't just connect the dots - we drew a whole new constellation of support for our users. Talk about a bright future, right?"
Conducted open-styled interviews with 10 parents from diverse backgrounds.
Analyzed existing parenting apps and support platforms and gather user feedback from their reviews.
Distributed surveys to 210 parents to understand their needs and pain points.
Parents seek professional advice but also crave real-world experiences from peers.
Time constraints make it difficult for parents to attend in-person support groups.
Information overload is a common issue, with parents struggling to find reliable resources.
After our deep dive into the parental psyche (aka interviews and data crunching), we hit the jackpot of insights. Spoiler alert: our app isn't just useful; it's the digital equivalent of a parenting lifeline!
Before diving into design, we channeled our inner Sherlock Holmes to investigate the digital parenting realm. Our mission? To uncover what's hot, what's not, and where Bright Future Parenting could sprinkle its magic.
⦿ Track design choices (because who doesn't love a good UI fashion show?)
⦿ Decode user flows (like following a trail of cheerios)
⦿ Spot pain points (the digital equivalent of Lego underfoot)
⦿ Find our unique parenting app superpower
• Pros: Swipe-to-connect, live chats, curated content.
• Cons: Might be too "swipe-happy" for some.
• Pros: Simple, interest-based connections.
• Cons: Limited features beyond matchmaking.
• Pros: Pro coaches, self-assessments, progress tracking.
• Cons: No peer-to-peer support. Missed sessions are not rolled over to the next week.
• Pros: Licensed therapists, "chat listener" feature.
• Cons: Lacks community aspect. It's more for individual therapy.
• Pros: Parent-to-parent connections.
• Cons: Confusing interface (like trying to assemble a crib at 2 AM).
⦿ Swiping is in (but maybe not for everyone)
⦿ Community matters (it takes a digital village)
⦿ Professional support is key (because Google can only help so much)
⦿ User experience can make or break an app (like a well-designed vs. poorly-designed diaper)
After a whirlwind of ideation (think Crazy 8s, napkin sketches, and maybe a few coffee-stained doodles), we leaped into the digital realm. Our paper concepts evolved faster than a toddler's mood swings, leading us to these sleek digital wireframes:
In our quest to create the ultimate parenting sidekick, we've split our prototype into two main acts: the grand entrance (boarding) and the main event (features). Let's peek behind the curtain!
Our usability study revealed a parental superpower we hadn't tapped into yet: the ability to clone themselves (kidding!). The next best thing? A magical "recurring appointment" button! Parents spoke, and we listened. Now, booking consistent coaching sessions is easier than remembering to pack extra diapers. One click, and boom – your sanity-saving sessions are locked in for weeks. It's like meal prepping, but for your mental health!
Turns out, parents aren't fans of digital split personalities! Our usability study uncovered a burning desire for simplicity. The verdict? Ditch the profile duopoly and embrace the "one profile to rule them all" approach. By merging profiles faster than you can say "bedtime story," we've created a streamlined experience that's smoother than puréed peas. Now parents can navigate the app with the ease of a toddler finding hidden candy – effortlessly and with unbridled joy!
Parents spoke, and we listened: sometimes, finding the right coach is like finding the perfect pacifier – it might take a few tries! Our usability study revealed a desire for freedom of choice that rivals a toddler's determination to dress themselves.
So, we've unleashed the power of coach-hunting at your fingertips! Now, parents can search for a new coach faster than they can say "Is this spit-up or drool?" It's like dating apps, but for finding your parenting guru. Swipe right on sanity, folks!
Our usability study uncovered a truth universal to parenthood: interests change faster than a baby's mood after a nap! Parents wanted the freedom to explore groups with the same enthusiasm their kids have for trying new foods (and promptly spitting them out).
Enter our new "Group Hopping" feature! Now, joining or leaving groups is easier than getting out of a playdate with that one parent who always overshares. Slip into a "terrible twos" support group, or gracefully exit the "DIY baby food" circle after realizing store-bought is just fine. It's all about finding your tribe, one tap at a time!

Our usability study revealed that parents prefer their app navigation to be as straightforward as assembly instructions for a baby crib (minus the frustration and leftover screws). So, we've given our groups a makeover worthy of a mommy blogger's Instagram:
• Sayonara, separate events button! We've seamlessly integrated events into your group feed. It's like hiding veggies in a smoothie - all the good stuff, none of the fuss.
• Introducing post filters: Because sometimes you want to see diaper blowout stories, and sometimes you don't. Sort your content faster than you can say "Where's the wipes?"
• Likes and comments have entered the chat! Now you can show support with a thumb-up quicker than a toddler can unroll an entire toilet paper roll. And commenting? It's your new favorite way to procrastinate folding laundry.
It's all about making our app as easy to navigate as a well-organized diaper bag. Your social parenting life, decluttered and supercharged!
